He warned that the path of economic isolation and unilateral policies will lead the world to stagnation and division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “China will deepen reform, promote high-level opening-up, and support a comprehensive and rules-based international trading system,” he said. Without naming any country, President Xi criticized the policies of economic nationalism and trade wars. He said that tariffs, restrictions on supply chains and sanctions on specific countries or companies are against global development and justice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Xi also called for reform of the global economic system to effectively incorporate the voices and needs of developing countries. He called on global institutions such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank to modernize their structures and become more inclusive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
