Agricultural experts of IUB visited Chapu Research Farm Cholistan desert
BAHAWALPUR : Under the vision of the Vice Chancellor of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran, the university’s agricultural scientists are engaged and focused on strengthening the country’s agricultural economy through positive contributions in agricultural research and benefiting other institutions and the farming community. In this regard, agricultural experts from the Islamia University of Bahawalpur visited Chapu Research Farm located in the Cholistan desert.
In Chapu, the advanced varieties of cotton developed by the Islamia University of Bahawalpur have been grown and are at the forefront in terms of performance and production. The university team included Dr. Usman Aziz, Director National Cotton Breeding Institute, Dr. Humayun Raza, Assistant Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics, and Masood Ahmed. Research Assistant Hadiqa took the team to the farm and informed them about the exceptional performance of the cotton developed by the IUB. The cotton varieties of Islamia University of Bahawalpur proved to be outstanding and excellent even in the harsh climatic conditions of Cholistan.
This success is clear evidence of the university’s research superiority in developing better varieties of cotton suitable for South Punjab. This initiative will help the cotton farmers of the region get better yields and pave the way for economic stability.
