Pakistan’s remittances rise 7pc yearly. SBP
Remittances from overseas Pakistanis reached $3.1 billion in August 2025, according to the State Bank of Pakistan on Monday.
While inflows rose by 7% compared to last year, they dipped by 1% month-on-month, reflecting mixed trends in the country’s foreign income support.
The State Bank reported that Pakistan received $6.4 billion in remittances during the first two months of the current fiscal year. This marks a clear improvement over the $5.9 billion received in the same period last year.
However, on a monthly basis, the figures showed a slight decline, with inflows dropping by 1% compared to July 2025.
In August 2025, Saudi Arabia emerged as the top contributor, sending $736.7 million.
The UAE followed with $642.9 million, while the UK contributed $463.4 million and the US added $267.3 million.
These inflows continue to reflect the heavy reliance of Pakistan’s economy on its diaspora communities in the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
