India crush UAE to launch Asia Cup 2025 campaign
India secured a convincing victory over the United Arab Emirates by nine wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday in the second match of the Asia Cup.
According to details, India have bowled first after winning the toss and dismissed UAE for a modest total of 57 runs in 13.1 overs. India’s bowlers shared the wickets, with Kuldeep Yadav taking four, Shivam Dube three, Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy one each.
UAE’s innings never gained momentum, losing wickets regularly. Opener Alishan Sharafu top-scored with 22 runs from 17 balls. Captain Muhammad Waseem contributed 19 before falling lbw to Kuldeep Yadav.
India chased the target comfortably, reaching 60 for one in 4.3 overs. Abhishek Sharma led the charge with a quick 30 runs from 16 balls, including two fours and three sixes, before being caught off Junaid Siddique. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 20 from nine deliveries. Captain Suryakumar Yadav was also not out on seven.
India’s innings was marked by aggressive stroke play, easing the pressure of the small target. The team demonstrated control and power throughout the chase.

At the toss, India, who had not won a toss in recent matches, called correctly as the coin landed on tails. Opting to bowl, Suryakumar mentioned the possibility of dew due to humid conditions and indicated that the team was prepared for either option. He added that the squad had arrived early and appeared ready.
UAE captain Waseem, said he would have chosen to bowl first as well, owing to the freshness of the pitch, which could assist bowlers early in the innings. Reflecting on their preparation, he referenced a successful tri-series ahead of the tournament. He said that the team might adopt different strategies for this match. When asked about team composition, he described a balanced line-up of spinners and pacers, combining youth and experience.
