Pakistan air strike on Kabul against TTP chief. ISPR DG responds
The Pakistan Army has reiterated its stance that Afghanistan must not allow its soil to be used against Pakistan, warning that failure to act against terrorist groups could trigger decisive state action.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, ISPR DG Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry emphasized that Afghanistan is a “brotherly Islamic country,” but it has a responsibility to ensure that its territory does not become a haven for non-state actors and terrorist networks.
“We have always told the Afghan government not to let its territory be used against Pakistan. We have always urged it not to allow its land to become a haven for non-stakeholder actors and terrorist groups,” the military spokesperson said.
The DG ISPR confirmed that Pakistan has provided evidence to Afghan authorities regarding the presence of terrorist elements operating from across the border. “We will do whatever it takes to protect the lives and property of the Pakistani people and safeguard our sovereignty,” he asserted.
When asked whether Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Noor Wali Mehsud was targeted in Afghanistan and if Pakistan conducted airstrikes on Kabul there the previous night, the DG ISPR declined to share operational details.
However, he emphasized that Afghanistan must prevent its soil from being used as a sanctuary for those who launch attacks on Pakistan. “If it fails to do so, then the facilitators of such elements should prepare for state action,” the DG ISPR warned, underscoring that the military’s response would be firm and within Pakistan’s sovereign rights.
