PM Shehbaz vows no compromise on defence after border clashes

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reaffirmed that there is no compromise on Pakistan’s defence, asserting that every act of provocation will be met with a resolute response

He commended the Pakistan Army for targeting terrorist hideouts near the Pak-Afghan border following an unprovoked attack. Paying tribute to the 23 personnel who lost their lives, he expressed pride in the military’s professionalism and dedication

PM Shehbaz stated that the armed forces have always responded firmly to external aggression, and the nation stands united with its security forces. He added that Pakistan has repeatedly shared intelligence with Afghanistan regarding the presence and operations of Fitna-ul-Kharij and Fitna-ul-Hindustan, who continue to operate from Afghan territory. These groups, he said, receive support from elements based in Afghanistan

Earlier, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Army reported that during the night of 11 and 12 October, an attack was launched near the Pak-Afghan border by the Afghan Taliban and Indian-backed Fitna-ul-Kharij elements

The Army responded decisively, temporarily seizing 21 Afghan positions and disabling terrorist planning centres. According to the spokesperson, 23 soldiers were martyred and 29 injured during the exchange of fire. Over 200 terrorists were killed in the retaliatory operation.
