Kazakhstan president arrives in Pakistan on two-day visit

ISLAMABAD – Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Pakistan on Monday for a two-day official visit

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif received the Kazakh president at Nur Khan Airbase.

A high-level delegation, including senior ministers and government officials, is accompanying President Tokayev on the visit.

During his stay, the Kazakh president will hold meetings with President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz. Several memorandums of understanding and agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors are expected to be signed between the two countries

The Foreign Office said the visit would offer both countries a timely and significant opportunity to thoroughly assess bilateral ties and identify fresh ways to expand cooperation, particularly in areas such as trade, logistics, regional connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, while also discussing coordination at regional and international platforms

It added that the upcoming visit underscores the growing strength of Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations, reflecting a shared commitment to turning long-standing historical and cultural links into practical cooperation, as well as a joint aspiration for peace and development in the region

The statement recalled that in September, Pakistan and Kazakhstan signed an Action Plan of Cooperation aimed at deepening bilateral relations during the visit of then Kazakh deputy prime minister Murat Nurtleu to Pakistan
