Asia Cup 2025. Sri Lankan cricketer Dunith Wellalage’s father dies

Suranga Wellalage, father of Sri Lankan cricketer Dunith Wellalage, has died in Colombo, reportedly from a heart attack.

Dunith Wellalage, aged 22, currently represents Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. He is considered one of the nation’s most promising young cricketers.

Earlier today, Wellalage played in Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup match against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi. In the final over, he was hit for five consecutive sixes by Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi.
