UN, world powers praise Hamas move on Trump’s Gaza plan

Hamas’s acceptance of key elements in US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan has sparked a wave of international reactions, with leaders and institutions calling the move a rare opportunity to end the devastating war.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said it welcomed Hamas’s statement, including its “readiness to release all hostages.” Doha also endorsed Trump’s call for Israel to immediately halt its bombing of Gaza.

Egypt praised Hamas’s response and described Trump’s proposal as a “realistic political vision” that could bring “peace and stability” to the Middle East. Cairo urged all parties to rise “to the level of responsibility required” to end the war.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called Hamas’s move “constructive and a significant step toward achieving lasting peace.” He also demanded that Israel “immediately stop all its attacks” on Gaza.

French President Emmanuel Macron urged swift follow-up on Hamas’s commitment, saying it offered a chance to “make decisive progress towards peace.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared that “peace in Gaza and the release of the hostages are within reach,” signaling Berlin’s support for Trump’s mediation.
