Senior PML-N leadership reaches out to PPP to defuse tensions
Senior leaders from the PML-N and PPP have begun efforts to end the ongoing deadlock in parliamentary proceedings, which emerged due to growing tensions between the two coalition partners.
Sources say both sides have shown a willingness to resolve issues through dialogue.
According to sources, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Acting Senate Chairman Syedal Khan, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, and Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah are actively engaged in mediation efforts.
The PML-N leadership has reached out to PPP leaders to defuse tensions and restore normalcy in parliamentary functions. Sources confirmed that the PPP leadership has expressed readiness to settle differences through talks, signaling a possible breakthrough in the political standoff.
Insiders revealed that the PPP has sent a clear message that while it does not wish to harm the parliamentary system, it will not compromise on honour and dignity. The party has urged the PML-N to first address its reservations before parliamentary proceedings can return to normal.
PPP leaders reportedly told their PML-N counterparts that constructive dialogue and mutual respect are essential for moving forward.
On the other hand, PML-N leaders have advised their PPP counterparts to exercise patience and wait for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return to the country. The premier, sources say, will personally play a role in resolving the dispute once he returns.
Party sources confirmed that PML-N leaders have already briefed the PM about their recent engagements and discussions with PPP officials regarding the political impasse.
In a parallel effort, PML-N leaders have also contacted Awami National Party (ANP) chief Aimal Wali Khan, who reportedly shared his own set of concerns, including the withdrawal of security and other administrative issues.
The PML-N team assured Aimal Wali Khan that these matters would be addressed upon the prime minister’s return, reinforcing the government’s commitment to restoring stability and cooperation among coalition partners.
At the same time, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with President Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House Karachi in their second meeting in as many days on Tuesday.
The two leaders discussed the country’s evolving political landscape, particularly the growing tension between the Sindh and Punjab governments, according to reliable sources. President Zardari reportedly instructed the minister to play an active role in defusing the situation and promoting coordination between the two provinces.
