Hamas announces delegation to Qatar for ceasefire talks
Gaza/Doha, April 15, 2025 — Hamas has announced that it is sending a high-level delegation to Qatar to participate in ongoing ceasefire talks in Gaza. The aim of these talks is to end the months-long bloody conflict and overcome the humanitarian crisis.
The organization’s leadership made the decision after consultations between its political and military wings, which indicates that Hamas is willing to pursue a diplomatic path in the current situation. The decision is being considered an important development in the context of ongoing pressure in the region and internationally.
According to a statement issued by Hamas, the delegation will participate in indirect talks under the mediation role of Qatar and Egypt. The talks will discuss the cessation of violence, the provision of humanitarian aid and a possible framework for a long-term ceasefire.
Qatar has been a key hub for negotiations between Hamas and Israeli mediators in the past, and has also played a key role in providing humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
According to sources, this phase of the talks will revisit points that could not be agreed upon earlier, such as the exchange of prisoners, access to basic goods in Gaza, and security guarantees for both sides.
On the other hand, representatives of regional and international organizations are also supporting these talks and are calling for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians, and the restoration of basic services in the besieged territory.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate, with severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies. International organizations have warned that a major humanitarian tragedy will not be averted unless urgent measures are taken.
Despite all these challenges, the Hamas delegation’s announcement of its return to the talks is being seen as a positive development, which not only offers hope for a reduction in tensions but could also strengthen the prospects for future peace in the region.
